With summer right around the corner, there's been exhibitions galore in Chennai during the week of Feb. 11 to 18, 2023, with exhibitions at every turn you take. With the new summer collections taking over the racks, these exhibitions have been the hotspot for anyone looking for a new summer wardrobe. The team at The Fourth Pillar visited some of these exhibitions to give you the rundown on what’s worth it and what you shouldn’t waste your time on. The usual spots such as The Hyatt Regency and Amethyst café are currently hosting back-to-back events and featuring new businesses and start-ups with a range of products, starting from clothes and accessories to snacks and fresh food stalls. Here’s a rundown on some of the exhibitions that took place in the city between Feb. 11-18, 2023.

  • Wild Milan Exhibition: Valentine’s edition at Amethyst’s Folly Hall – The event that was held on the 11 and 12 of Feb. 2023 was held in celebration of valentine’s day. The red and white theme surrounded the area and also reflected on the stalls that were set up. Though the number of stalls was limited due to space constraints, each store was unique from the others, and this was ideal as there was a wider range of products to choose from. One of the biggest takeaways from this event was the stalls that offered eco-friendly and sustainable clothes for babies and toddlers. Some stalls offered casual clothes and others more dressier ones, all for reasonable prices. A student initiative from MOP Vaishnav College for women had also taken up a stall – a perfume brand called Khiany Scents, run by students who had started their brand for an entrepreneurship assignment. The event also showcased multiple sustainable brands such as Susti and Just for Tots.

  • The Armoire: Summer Soiree at Hyatt Regency’s Abbotsbury Hall – With wedding season right around the corner, if you didn’t catch this event on Feb. 15, 2023, make sure to catch the next edition! All the glitz and glamor under one roof at the Summer Soiree, perfect for the onset of wedding season, whether you’re looking for bridal attire or just a wedding guest. Brands such as Sakshi Girri and House of Erum provided Indo-western options and Pasha India had the perfect set-up for all things pastel at their stall. There were also multiple jewelry stores that sold a collection of antiques, as well as modern jewelry. If you’re on the lookout for organic skin and hair products, look no further as Love P Organics has all the products you’ll ever need. The store offered a variety of products such as cleansers, hair masks, hair butters, serums, etc.

  •  Style Bazaar at Hyatt Regency – In comparison to The Armoire, styles bazaars stalls and options were much more casual and day-to-day, unlike the heavy and more festive collections presented at The Armoire. The two-day exhibition that took place on the 16 and 17 Feb., 2023 consisted of stalls that had a mix of Indian, and western clothing, and even had multiple home décor and snack stalls. Style Bazaar generally gives first-choice stalls to brands that aren’t based in Chennai and don’t have physical stores. Brands such as House of Glamour, Anaya Collections, and Rush 2 Denim saw great footfall with their unique collections catching the eyes of many. The Hyatt café also opened a small temporary café outside the hall where shoppers could relax and spend time

  • High Street Flea Market at Khader Nawaz Khan Road – The second edition of the High Street Flea that began on Feb. 17, 2023 is currently underway and will go on till Feb. 26,  2023. The market gives an opportunity for handicraft and handloom workers to showcase their products. It takes place on the sidewalks of the road with temporary stalls and tents put up. The market makes the already lively area much brighter with the lights and décor. Though the stalls provide considerably similar products, each has its unique touch. Shoppers can find an array of chikankari work clothes, handmade jewelry, homemade pickles and fryums, home décor, clay pots, etc.
